Body Composition Guide · May 2026

If you can't measure it, you can't keep it. DEXA. InBody. SECA. 12-week tracking built in.

DEXA is the most precise body-composition tool (ISCD-recognised),[1] InBody and SECA bioelectrical impedance tools are well-validated for trend tracking,[2] and ACSM guidance supports phase-aligned measurement over weekly scale checks.[5] PTD's 12-Week Body Transformation builds tracking into the programme — so the body you measure at week 12 is the body you keep.

THE THREE TOOLS

Three tools, three jobs. Each measures something the other can't.

  1. 01

    DEXA — the anchor measurement

Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. ISCD-recognised official positions support DEXA for body composition assessment.[1] Best used at start and end of a 12-week block for fat mass, lean mass, visceral fat, regional breakdown and bone mineral data. Available at multiple Dubai clinics.

  2. 02

InBody / SECA — the cadence check

Multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis. Independent validation against reference methods (Ling et al., Clinical Nutrition 2011).[2] Fast, repeatable, used mid-block to confirm the programme is on track. Direction of change matters more than absolute number.

  3. 03

    The programme uses the data

Coaches read body composition data alongside strength logs and adherence to adjust the next block — load, frequency, recovery, protein emphasis. ACSM 11th edition supports phase-aligned measurement.[5] Especially important on GLP-1 protocols where lean tissue retention matters.[3][4]

So let me just tell you a little about my journey so far with the PTD program. From day one, I started the program, and already four weeks later, I'm seeing results. You know, the belly's gone down. So just getting stronger. And ultimately, it's a case of just doing it. You just gotta make yourself accountable. You just gotta be dedicated. Get off your butt. Get to the gym, and put the work in. Stop eating that rubbish because I'm telling you right now, nothing tastes as good as strong and healthy feels.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

What buyers ask about tracking.

  1. What's the difference between DEXA, InBody and SECA?

DEXA uses dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and is the most precise of the three for fat mass, lean mass and bone. InBody and SECA use bioelectrical impedance — fast, repeatable, and well-validated for tracking change over time when used consistently.

  2. How often should I measure body composition?

Most PTD clients are scanned at the start and at the end of a 12-week block, with optional mid-programme InBody checkpoints. ACSM guidance supports periodic measurement aligned with programme phases, not weekly scale weight.

  3. Is DEXA worth it if I already have an InBody scan?

DEXA gives a more precise breakdown — visceral fat, regional muscle mass, bone mineral. InBody is excellent for trend tracking. Many clients use both: DEXA as the anchor measurement, InBody for cadence checks.

  4. How does body composition tracking matter on a GLP-1?

GLP-1 weight loss can include a lean tissue component — STEP 1 and SURMOUNT-1 trials documented this in semaglutide and tirzepatide cohorts. Body composition (not just scale) is the right way to confirm the weight lost is fat, not muscle. Coordinate with your prescribing doctor.

  5. Where can I get a DEXA scan in Dubai?

Multiple Dubai clinics offer DEXA. Your PTD coach can recommend reputable providers based on your location and timing. PTD does not own scanning equipment — we coordinate the appointment around your programme.

  6. Is the scale useless for tracking?

Not useless — but incomplete. Scale weight is one signal; body composition is the underlying story. Same body weight can hide very different lean mass and fat mass distributions.

  7. Do PTD coaches use the data in the next session?

Yes. Body composition results, strength logs, and adherence tracking are the inputs the coach uses to adjust the next block of programming — load, frequency, recovery and nutrition emphasis.

  8. How much does body composition tracking add to the cost?

InBody-style scans are included in the PTD programme. DEXA at an outside clinic is a separate cost (typically AED 300–600 in Dubai). The PTD price of AED 12,276 ex-VAT for 36 sessions doesn't change based on scan choice.
